Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Text entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request under its own policy. Madison County Court Docket does not keep a separate log of the names or case numbers entered there.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor sends an email, the message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It is not shared outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics records may capture technical facts about a visit:
- Device IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring page, when supplied
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that help measure traffic and site use. Analytics may combine visit data to show which pages are useful and where errors occur. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
Collected data may support these operational purposes:
- Delivering pages and maintaining service
- Passing a requested search to the chosen partner
- Measuring page performance and usefulness
- Finding abuse, errors, or security problems
- Displaying advertising that supports the service
No Court-Record Data on File
Madison County Court Docket does not host, compile, sell, or maintain a database of court dockets or personal case files. It points to the Madison County Circuit Clerk, Alabama courts, municipal courts, and official search services. The Alabama Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality and Alabama Code Section 36-12-40 govern official judicial access at the source. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power any search box shown on a content page. Their privacy rules, retention periods, result practices, and prices apply when a visitor submits a query. Review the provider's policy before entering personal data because this policy does not control that service.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Alabama courts, the Madison County Circuit Clerk, municipal offices, statutes, or outside search tools. After a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms govern. Some advertising providers may also measure activity on their own systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be processed by:
- Search providers handling a submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring visits and performance
- Advertising networks serving page content
- Authorities responding to a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for data under the site's control. No internet service can promise perfect security, so absolute protection or uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly seek personal information from anyone under 18. Data identified as having been submitted by a minor will be removed when reasonably verified.
Your Data Rights
Rights depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the kind of data held. A person may ask to access personal data, correct an error, request deletion, or object to certain processing. Alabama's public-writings law does not turn private visitor data into an Alabama court record, and court-record requests must still go to the originating clerk.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date.
